Community mediation, run by Uniting Communities Mediation Service, offers an alternative to court action. Although the service receives some government funding, it is not run by a government agency and has no power to force people to attend or stick to any agreement that is reached.
Uniting Communities Mediation Service can help resolve disputes about a range of matters including disputes relating to neighbours, community organisations, care management, workplace issues, and disability.
The service is provided free of charge if at least one party has low or no income. Interpreters can be provided. Mediation is available in some regional areas and in various locations around Adelaide. For more information, visit the Uniting Communities Mediation Service website or call 8202 5960.
